Kanha was born in Laos and has been a native of the Brattleboro are since 1980. Both parents, two brothers and herself are sponsored by St. Michaels church to live in Brattleboro. She attended Hinsdale schools, and then college in West Virginia. She received her Medical Assistant degree in 2006 from Lincoln Tech.
