Jumpstart for a Healthy Life: A Three year project to Treat and Prevent Childhood Obesity.

In December 2003 we received a three year grant from the Fanny Holt Ames and Edna Louise Holt Fund to aid us in developing and supporting programs aimed at treating and preventing childhood obesity.

Over the course of the first year we have seen success in this project in many different areas. We have been able to offer healthy snack and dinner ideas, sponsor a running program for young girls, offer nutritional counseling and support groups for children and their families, provide computer access to the internet and teach patients how to find good health information on the internet, and have been part of the start of a “Boys & Girls Club” in Bellows Falls.
